Music Theory
Literacy and comprehension are important right from the beginning of lessons.
All students study music theory as part of their weekly lesson. For younger students, pairing with another child or 2 to play some theory games in-between private lessons is ideal. Over the years I have collected and created many materials that we can use.
Content for each student varies according to age and level. Once they are ready, however, I like to use the Celebrate Theory series from the Royal Conservatory of Music with my students. This course will prepare them to eventually write theory exams with the Conservatory should they choose to do so.
If there's one thing I like to share, it's man collection books about music.
This is a video of Ann Rachlin's Famous Children Tchaikovsky.
You will hear me and some of my students read the text.
Children learn from each other and are very attentive to the voice of another child. Currently I am working on creating a new book video about Mozart. You can see all of my Videos on my YouTube channel - Joanne Diplock.

Theory, History and Technique
With the help of many piano students throughout the years, I have created keyboard maps of scales, chords, and arpeggios according to Conservatory requirements. The worksheets are collated into books that I give out free of charge to my students.
